Barend van der Merwe has a general commercial and corporate practice with a focus on financial and property related mattes which involve aspects of banking law, insolvency, crypto currencies and the National Credit Act.
He regularly appears in various divisions of the High Court of South Africa and also attends to private arbitrations within the Gauteng Region. Prior to becoming an advocate Barend was a litigation attorney and attended to criminal trials, disciplinary hearings and CCMA matters. He was admitted as an attorney in 2007 after obtaining his LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in 2006.
