Beyers has been practicing as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa for more than 30 years and holds chambers both in Cape Town and Johannesburg, specialising in domestic and international arbitrations involving construction, engineering, energy, mining, information technology and commercial disputes. He is also admitted in the Kingdom of Lesotho.

He holds BA(Law) and LLB degrees from the University of Stellenbosch as well as an MSc degree in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from King’s College London, in respect whereof he was the recipient of the “Arbitration Club ‘Philip Raner’” prize.

His practice involves advising and representing parties in domestic and international arbitrations, adjudications and court proceedings. His clients include international and South African employers, contractors and consultants on engineering, construction, energy, mining and information technology projects in many African countries, the Middle East, the United Kingdom and South America.

He has held appointments as acting High Court judge, appeal arbitrator, arbitrator (in both ICC and South African international and domestic arbitrations, respectively), adjudicator, mediator and legal expert.

He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators, and is the current representative of the Cape Bar on the AFSA Construction Committee.

In addition, he is a co-author of Charrett (ed), "The International Application of FIDIC Contracts: A Practical Guide" (Informa Law from Routledge, 2019), a co-founder and the current chairperson of the Society of Construction Law for Africa (2013-2023) and was previously an international member of Keating Chambers (2017-2022).
