Greg Wickins SC is a senior member of the Maisels Group of Advocates in Sandton, Johannesburg. Before completing his pupillage and commencing practice in late 2000, he was admitted as an attorney in South Africa, and then worked in London. He took silk in 2020.
Greg’s practice is predominantly of a commercial nature, with the focus on company-related matters (including liquidations and business rescue); mining-related matters; construction-related matters; and pension-related matters.
He appears in the High Courts countrywide, in the Supreme Court of Appeal, and in the Constitutional Court, as well as in Botswana and Lesotho, where he is admitted on an ad hoc basis. He has appeared in numerous prominent cases, which feature in the South African law reports.
Greg is also instructed in arbitrations and insolvency enquiries. He has served on various committees of the Bar Council. He acts as an arbitrator, both under the auspices of the Arbitration Foundation and on appointment by the parties. Currently, he is a Court-appointed Commissioner in a large cross-border insolvency enquiry, and has recently accepted an appointment as an Acting Judge of the High Court in Johannesburg.
Greg enjoys longstanding professional relationships with his instructing attorneys and clients.
