Admitted as attorney and counsellor in New York in 1989, and practised in the fields of mergers, anti-trust and taxation. Drafted policies and legislation in South Africa, and other countries, in the fields of transport, local government and communications. Called to the Bar in 1998 and practised until joining Vodacom Group; re-admitted to the Bar in 2013. Performed due diligences for acquisitions and disposals, acquired licences, obtained funding, started up and listed telecommunications companies chiefly in South Africa, Nigeria (Vmobile), Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique and Ghana. Served as Chief Legal Officer, and as executive and non-executive board member of communications companies. Appeared before tribunals, arbitrators, parliaments, regulators and commissions in Sub-Saharan Africa, France, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Fluent in French.
